Don’t Worry About The Wicked!

An Eternal Perspective – When We See Wicked People Flourish!

Don't worry about the wicked

When we see wicked people flourishing, we are not to become frustrated and angry, realizing that God will ultimately reward us for our faithfulness, if not on this present earth, then in eternity.

Read Psalm 37

Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.

Psalm 37:1(NLT)

But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity.

Psalm 37:11(HCSB)

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

Matthew 5:5 (NLT)

  • Trust in the Lord (Ps. 37:3)
  • Take delight in the Lord (Ps. 37:4)
  • Commit everything you do to the Lord (Ps. 37:5)
  • Be still in the presence of the Lord. (Don’t try to take control of the situation) (Ps. 37:7)
  • Stop being angry! (Ps. 38:8)

Jesus didn’t say the humble would possess the land but inherit the earth. That’s the big picture!

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone.  And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Revelation 21:1-4 (NLT)

As you reflect on the rest of this psalm, what does David say will eventually happen to those who consistently reject God and live evil lives?

  • For the wicked will be destroyed. (Ps. 37:9)
  • Soon the wicked will disappear. (Ps. 37:10)
  • Their swords will stab their own hearts. (Ps. 37:15)
  • For the strength of the wicked will be shattered. (Ps. 37:17)
  • But the wicked will die. (Ps.37: 20)
  • For the LORD loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. (Ps. 37:28)
  • Put your hope in the LORD. (Ps. 37:34)
  • But the rebellious will be destroyed; they have no future. (Ps. 37:38)

“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Revelation 21:8 (NLT)
